our MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT is hiring!

Grasslands Public Schools is seeking to fill two summer maintenance worker positions from May 5th to August 22nd. Please apply to the posting with the preferred start date.

Work will be in multiple locations throughout the division and depending on the task, will require the employee to work both inside and outdoors. To be successful in this position the candidate must be energetic, conscientious, responsible, and hardworking. While working as a Grasslands summer worker you will have many opportunities to work on projects, individually and on a team, that will be both engaging and a great way to learn new skills.

Provide opportunities that inspire students to achieve and succeed as resilient learners who positively impact their communities.



Job Duties:

Perform a variety of maintenance tasks at multiple locations, such as:

  • grounds maintenance such as landscaping and cleanup;
  • operating light equipment;
  • minor Building maintenance; and,
  • moving school and office furniture and equipment.

Ideal candidates skills & abilities:

  • Experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical, painting, and the ability to operate grounds maintenance equipment would be considered an asset but not a requirement.
  • Able to work independently or as a team.
  • Excellent problem solving, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Able to anticipate hazards and follow safe working procedures according to Grasslands and OH&S protocols.
  • Able to tolerate and work around dust and fumes.
  • Able to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to work in crowded and loud environments.
  • Able to perform tasks, on every shift, that may be physically demanding that includes but not limited to; climbing and balancing; stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, turning, and reaching; lifting, carrying, pulling and pushing; and prolonged sitting and standing.
  • Understanding and appreciation of Grasslands Public Schools mission and values.
  • Able to conduct oneself in a responsible and respectful manner while working in and around a school environment, in the community, and with third parties, that is in alignment with divisions policies, guidelines and values.
