Technology Support Technician

Temporary Part Time (30 hours per week)

Position : Reporting to the Manager - Learning Technology Services, the Technology Support Technician will support the Learning Technology Services department with the purchasing, inventory, setup, and programming of different technologies. In addition, this position will provide tier one troubleshooting and repair/maintenance service and technical support to the Division.

Duties to Commence: August 23, 2024 until June 27, 2025.

Qualifications and preferred requirements:

Apply foundational knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit for the benefit of all students, and support the Division’s goals towards advancing Truth and Reconciliation

Post-secondary education in computer science or Technical Diploma in a computer related area at a recognized institution or equivalent experience.

Knowledge about a variety of computer OS systems, i.e. Windows Apple/MAC, and Chrome.

Experience with image deployment software (Web Help Desk and Mosyle) is an asset.

Excellent customer service skills as well as written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to multi-task and adapt to constant change.

Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the Learning Technology Services team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Management of Division technology inventory via WebHelpDesk inventory system; enter, edit, or retire technology devices; create Tickets; create spreadsheets to share information when requested and track technology inventory at various sites.

Follow processes for device naming, labeling and entry into the inventory system (both individual and bulk imports).

Provide annual GSACRD Tech Property report for insurance purposes; create statement of values for each Division site using inventory system.

Provide monthly Retired Items report for tracking of retired technology devices.

Managing incoming devices for both internal repairs and external warranty repairs.

Troubleshooting and repairing of non-warranty device issues.

Troubleshooting iPad application issues and MDM installation issues.

Setup and deploying iPads.

Troubleshoot and support hardware, software, and connectivity problems with computers, laptops, printers, and peripherals.

Assist users remotely to resolve software and hardware issues.

Tracking status of repairs and recording/sharing information using digital apps and inventory ticketing system.

Communicating with external agencies to set up warranty repairs.

Imaging of new devices.

Providing initial tier one support for Division systems and applications (i.e. Carousel digital signage software).

Provide support to teachers in utilizing ViewSonic software and various Apple programs.

Responsible for creating comprehensive educational training videos that teachers can refer to for ongoing support and learning.

Assisting with planning and subsequent management of information regarding LTS projects (ie. RFP’s, Evergreening, projector projects, etc.).

Other duties - as requested by the Manager of Learning Technology Services.
