Temporary Division Psychologist
Full-Time - 35 hours per week
(Part-Time hours will be considered based on the availability of the successful candidate)

Duties to Commence: Immediately until June 27, 2025 with the possibility of extension beyond this school year.
Position Description: This position is connected to the Mental Health in Schools Pilot grant from the Government of Alberta, designed to support the mental health needs for students in the Division. This position has been designed to provide leadership and guidance for psychoeducational assessments, and to support the implementation of recommendations at the school level. In addition, this position will have opportunities to build capacity among staff, by developing and leading professional learning opportunities for each employee group - teachers, educational assistants, school leaders, teacher-counsellors, and other support staff groups. This position will also develop and implement researched based strategies to address the mental health needs of students throughout the Division. The successful candidate must be a registered psychologist, demonstrate leadership qualities and have formal training and/or experience in providing social/emotional support for school aged children and adolescents.
This position will be based out of St. Albert and the successful candidate will be required to travel to all 17 school sites in our Division communities - St. Albert, Morinville, and Legal. In addition, there will be occasional need for flexibility in the hours of work (before/after school hours or in the evening and possible weekends).
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in counselling/psychology with a current Registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP)
Experience with completed and debriefing psychoeducational assessments
Additional counselling, mental health and wellness, or other related training is considered an asset
A passion for supporting diverse learning and understanding of interventions and strategies that will assist with success in schools

Community collaboration/networking skills
Knowledge of the local community and resources available
Capable of maintaining program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of programs
Resilience and a commitment to personal development
Provide leadership with Violent Threat Risk Assessments
Ability to build capacity and support within the division to implement trauma informed programming
Skilled in Microsoft Office programs and working knowledge of social media
All employees must provide a criminal record check
All professions must provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable:
Regulated health professions under the Alberta Health Professions Act and Health Disciplines Act will be required to show an original copy of a valid practice permit before commencing their duties
Other professions governed by government acts, college or regulatory body requirements may be required to provide additional documentation.
