Job Description

As an Exercise Instructor, your primary duties will include: providing exercise instruction (under the supervision of a Physiotherapist); assisting with the ongoing development and evaluation of the service model of the WSIB Specialty Clinic including educational information, progression of patient exercise programs and work hardening programs; conducting components of assessment and re-assessment (as appropriate); ensuring consistency in approach for patients by assessing and identifying patients goals, planning, implementing and evaluating patient progress with other team members; practicing within the program’s standards of care; performing patient care documentation in accordance with professional standards (as applicable) and hospital policy; participating and facilitating patient/family education utilizing adult education principles and motivational interviewing; complying with and committing to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital policies and procedures, including responding to emergencies; ensuring a safe environment for all patients, staff, students, volunteers and visitors.

This role requires travel to all Halton Healthcare sites to support the WSIB Specialty program.

Qualifications

  • Current registration with and a member in good standing with the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario
  • Undergraduate degree in Kinesiology from a recognized university
  • Minimum of 3 years direct exercise instructional/progression related experience with WSIB worker population
  • Excellent goal setting, exercise progression and assessment skills
  • Working knowledge of adult learning principles and coaching techniques
  • Ability to establish effective relationships with patients and team members
  • Experience with organizing, coordinating and overseeing large volumes of patients in a short period of time
  • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and leverage sound clinical decision-making
  • Well-developed conflict-resolution skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word and Power Point)

Additional Information

Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour day shifts (Hours subject to change based on operational needs)

Salary: $28.562 to $32.876 per hour
