Under the supervision of the Supervisor of Security, operates a state-of-the-art healthcare security and emergency control center. This position operates radio, telephone and various other tele-communications equipment to receive and relay information to the security services provider’s staff operating within Halton Healthcare.
The dispatcher with prioritizes and assigns emergency and non-emergency service calls to frontline security staff and coordinate with the Security Team Leaders often in stressful situations. Maintains logs and records of all activity as required in the dispatch and mobile records management system. Provides information to internal healthcare staff, municipal emergency services and other agencies as required.
Responsible for answering emergency calls, non-emergency calls, incoming administrative lines and giving security related instructions to callers, the dispatcher will act as a front line representative of Halton Healthcare Security and Parking and provide excellent customer service.
The Dispatcher will have system responsibilities of security and life safety systems used by the security program. The Dispatcher will ensure Halton Healthcare security systems are being used appropriately and report to the Supervisor of Security all non-compliance issues with all applicable polices and protocols. Provide training to other dispatchers and security service provider’s staff. Dispatcher will assist as needed the Manager of Security and Parking and the Supervisor of Parking and Access Control with parking operations, enforcement activities, parking phone and badging and investigations.
Grade 12 or equivalent.
Post-Secondary college certificate or diploma in Emergency Telecommunications, or a combination of education in a related field and experience
Excellent spoken English oral and written communications skills and clear speaking voice.
Mental Health First Aid Certificate issued by recognized provider to be completed within 3 months of hire
Emergency Management Ontario IMS 100 completed within 3 months of hire
Previous Relevant Experience Required:
Experience working in an organization that required the candidate to interact with advanced life safety, security and tele-communication systems with a centralized dispatch environment.
Status: Permanent Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour shifts;1500-2300 (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs)
Salary: $22.52 - $28.12 per hour
