Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Team Lead/ Prevention Specialist, is responsible coordinating day-to-day operations of the Eating Disorder Prevention program, in addition to leading in skills and capacity building activities, and participate in research and evaluation activities and academic forums.
The Team Lead is also responsible for facilitating and performing health promotion and wellness education planning and implementation activities within Halton Healthcare and within six Ontario Health regions. This includes providing consumer-oriented eating disorder information and reference material within the community using print and electronic resources.
- Facilitate and perform health promotion and eating disorder education planning and implementation activities
- Design, conduct and update a community assessment to determine population eating disorder educational needs
- Identify and develop eating disorder wellness and education initiatives based on needs of particular populations
- Identify opportunities to develop collaborative partnerships and linkages with a diverse array of stakeholders and sector champions in the community, clinical, health administration, partner organizations and government divisions
- Work collaboratively with a diverse array of stakeholders and sector champions in the community, clinical, health administration, partner organizations and government divisions to organize and implement health service, promotion, education and community outreach events that respond to the eating disorder needs and interests of the community
- Participate in community networks that address specific community eating disorder health issues
- Assist community resources in accessing health related services in the community
- Advocate on behalf of community resources to access opportunities/resources for capacities and skills related to eating disorders. Participates in the identification and development of health events/forums/opportunities that foster shared learning and capacity building
- Implement a variety of health promotion strategies including health education, social marketing, population health and community development in order to foster individual self-awareness, improve health decision making and promote access to resources necessary for building a strong eating disorder promotion, prevention and early intervention model
- Provide eating disorder promotion strategies with cultural competence and ethno cultural sensitivity
- Conduct and/or arrange in-service presentations for Community Program staff to keep them informed of current trends in eating disorder education and the work of other community agencies
- Provide consumer-oriented eating disorder information and references to community based partners
- Recommend and assist as necessary in the acquisition of, accurate, reliable, current, and appropriate eating disorder promotion, prevention and early intervention educational material directed to support adult influencers, youth and children
- Provide quick reference and assistance locating appropriate referrals for adult influencers, youth and children
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing or other clinical or related field
- Master's Degree in Social Work, Nursing or equivalent preferred
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, other Health Regulatory Professional College preferred
- Mental health clinician or counsellor, or undergraduate degree and with additional education in counselling or mental health
- At minimum over 4 years practical and related experience required
- Minimum of two years of experience in a mental health setting with a focus on children and youth
- Psychotherapy qualifications, community development and/or public health experience preferred
- Experience required in health promotion, health education, or child/youth education,
- Experience with related child/youth mental health areas and community development preferred
- Experience working with anxiety disorders, depression, past trauma or eating disorders or motivational enhancement
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with multiple groups and stakeholders
- A valid driver’s license and own transportation is required
Hours: Monday to Friday; Days; 7.5 hour shifts, (Hours are subject to change based on operational needs).
Salary: $51.537 to $63.851 per hour
