The Trauma Registry Data Analyst is responsible for data analysis of trauma (adult and pediatric), burn and research data. Trauma Registry Data Analyst provides appropriate, accurate and timely analysis and interpretation of trauma care data to the Critical Care Services of Ontario, Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC, Canadian Institute of Health Information (CIHI), and physicians and health care professionals at Hamilton Health Sciences. The Trauma Registry Data Analyst develops reports and dashboards for high level analysis of the Trauma Program including corporate dashboards, annual reports and provincial reporting. The Trauma Registry Data Analyst identifies gaps and trends in the data and makes recommendations based on findings. The role works with the Trauma team to help identify areas of quality improvement, innovative ways to review data, and support initiatives at a regional and provincial level. The Trauma Registry Data Analyst works collaboratively with Decision Support, among others, to link trauma data with other data sources to fulfill reporting requirements as needed in a timely and efficient manner.

Responsibilities of the role will include, but are not limited to:
• Performing statistical management, interpretations, and other organizational responsibilities while acting as a primary contact for our Trauma Program, interpreting information and ensuring the integrity and efficacy of trauma data, while also ensuring corporate and program clinical objectives are met;
• Develops, prepares, and submits CIHI Ontario Trauma Registry (OTR), Decision Support, and/or Critical Care Services Ontario (CCSO) clinical process and outcome indicator data in a timely manner, acting as a key contact for providing assistance with data clarity and interpretation;
• Performs clinical data analyses for trauma and surgical care areas responding to data queries to support effective and efficient management strategies, identifying areas where our programs and clinical care are exemplary, as expected, and requiring improvement;
• Performs monthly QA of coded data, correcting issues provided to them by Manager or Decision Support Services;
• Participates in data quality audits to ensure optimal data is captured for the hospital (Trauma base funding), and others as required; 
• Monthly Data quality audits and ISS reconciliation with Decision Support; 
• Provides support for research and quality improvement projects by identifying, monitoring, and tracking clinical data;
• Generation of reports related to performance improvement, patient safety initiatives, and statistical reporting.


Qualifications

1. Completion of an undergraduate degree in Health Information Management required
2. Certified with the Canadian College of Health Information Management
3. Experience and proficiency in ICD-10, AIS, PTS and ISS coding methodologies
4. Experience with SQL, SPSS us to measure quality metrics/statistics
5. Good working knowledge of CIHI data
6. Working knowledge of hospital computer systems including EPIC, Sovera
7. Strong data entry and management skills with the ability to document data processes
8. Demonstrated ability to generate high quality reports basic statistical and objective analysis of data
9. Experience working with management information systems including data analysis, analyzing variances, identifying trends, and interpreting data
10. Demonstrates proficiency using Microsoft Office applications like Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
11. Demonstrates understanding of QA and PIPS frameworks
12. Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills
