Reporting to: Manager of Human Resources, Payroll Systems & Pension Services

Description:

The incumbent will be responsible for the recruitment, selection, and staffing processes within a large multi-union environment.

The incumbent will deliver subject specific expertise and exemplary customer service to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders to provide a positive experience for all employees and employment candidates. After hours' work may be required during peak staffing periods.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Organize and manage all aspects of internal and external recruitment, and selection processes across a diverse range of employee groups

Develop and implement creative strategies to reach high quality talent pools while ensuring recruitment and selection processes are barrier-free, fair, equitable, open and transparent

Ensure accurate processing of wage and salary administration in compliance with the collective agreements and Board Policies and Procedures

Organize the flow of confidential information related to recruitment, selection and scheduled staffing processes including input and maintenance of employee information in the HRIS system

Lead the interview process for all teams within your designated area

Organize and attend job fairs to source specific talent pools as needed

Manage on-boarding and orientation processes for all new hires

Administer and coordinate system-wide internal staffing processes in accordance with provincial legislation and collective agreement language

Provide timely and accurate advice regarding recruitment strategies, staffing policies, employment legislation, and collective agreements for senior management, supervisory staff, principals, and employees

Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with union officials and a variety of internal and external stakeholders

Work in partnership with other members of the Human Resources Department to support changes in employee status and staff transitions

Develop and implement quality human resources service initiatives; supporting a variety of special projects; other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources Management combined with a minimum of two years of experience in a human resources capacity in the public sector or equivalent as determined by the Board

Minimum three (3) years of recruitment experience, preferably in a dedicated Human Resources position.

CHRP, CHRL or RPR designation is considered an asset.

Demonstrated experience coordinating recruitment and selection processes for unionized and non-unionized employee groups

Comprehensive knowledge and experience in human resources practices and processes, relevant provincial and federal legislation, and collective agreements

Knowledge of Human Resources, Payroll and Benefit processes

Excellent research, analytical, organizational, problem solving and strategic thinking skills.

Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative working relationships and provide exemplary service to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrated effective leadership, coordination, organizational and planning skills

Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, ability to meet timelines and maintain confidentiality

Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and/or work environment

Computer literacy an asset; proficiency with Microsoft Suite including Word, E-mail, Excel, PowerPoint and ACCESS would be advantageous

Previous experience with education sector staffing processes considered an asset.
