Salary or Pay Band: Pay Band 4, $27.803 to $32.537 (5 step range)

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

Reporting to the Provincial Manager, Financial Services, the Accounting Clerk is responsible for a variety of general accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciling general ledger accounts/bank statements, assists in maintaining the fixed asset ledger, as well as performing month/year end procedures which includes the generation and distribution of financial statements and financial analysis of accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Diploma in Business Administration/Accounting plus two (2) years previous relevant experience in a comparable accounting environment using financial software/systems; OR 
  • Accounting Certificate plus five (5) years previous relevant experience in a comparable accounting environment using financial software/systems.

Experience:

  • Previous experience in an accounting environment and using financial software/systems.

Skills:

  • Ability to apply basic accounting principles in order to perform basic accounting functions.
  • Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to operate all types of office equipment.
  • Moderate judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a variety of alternatives.
  • Ability to effectively communicate factual information both orally and in writing.
  • Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
  • Accuracy of fine motor movements for typing/data entry is required.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
