GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

As a member of the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency Senior Leadership team, the Director, Quality, Safety and Strategy is accountable for providing collaborative leadership and expertise in programs and initiatives that support and advance the Agency’s mission, values. 

The Director provides strategic leadership and oversight for the Agency’s quality, safety, and strategy programs, ensuring alignment to best practices and standards, which includes Accreditation Canada, enterprise risk management, patient and staff safety, quality of care initiatives, and the execution of strategic planning processes and projects. This role partners and collaborates with executive leadership, directors, managers, and external partners to champion the advancement of quality improvement culture across all levels of the Agency. 

The Director is accountable for the strategic leadership and advisory support to the CEO, Executive Leadership and Senior Leadership teams in the planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating of a wide variety of quality improvement, risk management, safety, and planning programs and services, as well as in advancing the related cultural shifts for achieving greater organizational performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in clinical or allied health field, business administration, public administration or healthcare administration. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressive experience in a leadership role and in managing direct reports, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven experience with quality improvement, risk management, patient and staff safety, project support, and/or strategic planning.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships and interface with all aspects and all levels of the organization.  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong facilitation skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and process-oriented.
  • Strong skills as a change agent, able to influence, act as a change agent, challenge the status quo, maintain standard work with finesse and courage, deal with the potential resulting conflict, understand the organizational strategy, and articulate organizational goals.
  • Good project management and change management skills are an asset.
  • Proficiency working in a computer-based environment using Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
