Job Description:

The EMT will respond to calls for service as per dispatch instructions, providing assessment, treatment and transportation of ill or injured persons. The EMT will cover standby assignment, as operations require.

Education

  • Primary Care Paramedic diploma (PCP)

Licenses

  • Registered Paramedic (2011 National Occupational Competency Profile standards)
  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)
  • International Trauma Life Support Certificate (ITLS)
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license
  • Health Care Provider Level C Certificate (HCP-C)

Competencies

  • Basic - Interpersonal skills
  • Basic - Communication skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work and communicate in a cross cultural setting

Other Information

  • Must be able to respond to the ambulance within 10 minutes when on-call
  • Employer will endeavour to ensure on-call does not exceed 300 hours in 3 weeks
