Job Description: Reporting to the manager of the Positive Living Program , the Nurse Clinician monitors and assess patients through chart review, history, physical assessments and lab data. Triages needs and care, identifies and orders appropriate diagnostic tests in consultation with physicians, other team members and in accordance with medical directives. Identifies the need for and administers vaccines, Mantoux tests, obtains blood (peripheral and per venous access device) and changes/dresses simple and complex wounds and initiates treatments/adjusts dosages as ordered by the physician or in accordance with standard treatment protocols. Provides crisis intervention, follow-up and referral through telephone and one on one contact in a variety of settings such as clinical, community and correctional settings. Supports skill building in prevention and self-management including harm reduction, needle exchange, distributes condoms. Liaises with team members in hospital departments and community agencies to ensure continuity and coordination of care. Provides education to clients/families in all aspects of HIV and Hepatitis prevention, testing, care and treatment a resource for regional and out of region staff RE: all aspects of HIV and Hepatitis. Assists in program planning and activities based on determinants of health, best practice literature and community assessments. Develops protocols, guidelines, standards of care in collaboration with physicians and the multidisciplinary team. Prepares and submits a month end report according to program guidelines and for record keeping (charting, statistics, data-base maintenance) assists in the Federal and Provincial HIV/AIDS notification and HIV partner notification per legal regulations.

Experience
- 5 years direct nursing experience with HIV
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Other Education and Training
- Nursing diploma is acceptable
