Job Description: The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team, provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health Promotion Model and Primary Health Care. The Public Health Nurse translates knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health-enhancing behaviors of individuals, families and population groups through targeted interventions, programs, and advocacy. Inherent in this role are knowledge, skills, and abilities specific to health promotion, prevention, and protection. This employee works relatively independently and is expected to make decisions based on sound assessments in accordance with The Public Health Act, the policies of the Public Health Nursing program, the CRNS Standards of Practice, the Canadian Community Health Nursing Standards of Practice, and other relevant legislation. This employee liaises with, and refers to, other health personnel, and other sectors and community groups. The Public Health Nurse works within guidelines established by policy to plan, organize, implement and evaluate nursing programs in an assigned area.

Education
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing with courses in public health nursing is required.
- Possession of a valid CPR Basic Life Support Level C certificate
Experience
- At least one year Public Health Nursing experience is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- This is a community based position providing services in clinic and home settings. Travel required to various community sites, including rural, within the Primary Health Care Networks (Regina). Home base for this position is: 204 Wascana Street.
- Scheduled hours of work may be reduced (if applicable) during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Possession of a valid Class 5 drivers license and have a vehicle available for work. Travel allowance is provided.
