Job DescriptionNurse Practitioners work alongside the Emergency Physician within a regulated scope of practice as well as SHA policies and procedures. They work within a framework of evidence-based practices, health promotion, and disease and injury prevention. As health care professionals, they participate in self and peer review to evaluate the outcome of their services at the patient, community, and population level. In this setting, emergency and/or acute care experience is important to supplement advanced clinical skills, knowledge, and abilities. Nurse Practitioners are responsible for their professional development and maintaining competence and registration with the CRNS

Experience

  • Five (5) full-time years of experience as a Registered Nurse
  • Two (2) years experience as a nurse practitioner, is an asset
  • 3 full time yrs recent exp in acute/chronic conditions, specializing in primary/emerg care

Education

  • Master of Nursing - Nurse Practitioner (MN-NP)

Licenses

  • Registered Nurse Practitioner (RN(NP))

Memberships

  • College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

Other Education and Training

  • Current CPR certification
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), is an asset
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Commits to continuous quality improvement of NP role and department as a whole
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Emergency Department flow and function
  • Knowledge of social determinants/resource evaluation for assessment/mngment plan
