GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:

The Receptionist is responsible for providing reception and clerical duties for the Prevention and Early Detection Department programs.  This position ensures the collection, documentation and distribution of information is completed with accuracy and confidentiality.  This position reports to the Manager of Administrative Services, with daily work supervised by the Supervisor Admitting Reception, Prevention & Early Detection.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:
  • Grade 12
  • Office Education/Secretarial Certificate plus completion of a Medical Terminology course  OR

Medical Office Assistant Certificate  OR

  • If no such applicant found, applicant with Office Education/Secretarial Certificate required to complete an approved Medical Terminology course, at their expense, through an approved educational institute within two (2) years of commencing the job.
Experience:
  • No previous experience.
Skills:
  • Ability to type proficiently.
  • Competent in the use of computers and Microsoft applications.
  • Ability to operate a computerized data entry system.
  • Ability to operate all types of office equipment.
  • Human relations skills required to empathize with complaints and/or concerns and establish rapport with patients, the public and other staff.
  • Ability to effectively communicate factual information both orally and in writing.
  • Some judgment and problem solving skills are required to select the most appropriate action from a limited number of alternatives.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of culturally responsive care for First Nations and Métis people.
