Job Description: Communications Specialists are responsible for performing various key functions within the Community Engagement and Communications portfolio. Reporting to and working alongside the Manager, Communications Support, the Communications Specialist is responsible for creating and implementing communication strategies that directly impact how Saskatchewan Health Authority leaders communicate key initiatives, internally and externally, in order to increase trust and confidence in the health system. The Specialist builds and implements communications products that reach tens of thousands of stakeholders, including employees, physicians, patients, families, health system and union partners, government and the public. The Specialist uses the right messages to reach the right audiences and delivers those messages using the right mix of best-practice tools, including corporate channels (website, intranet, social media, corporate publications), media relations and other forms of print and digital communications. The Specialist plays a key role in issues management, including items related to labour relations/disruptions, privacy, policy, safety, public concerns and critical incidents. They provide strong, effective communications service in an ever-changing and highly complex environment, while understanding how this high-risk position and the team's work directly affects the SHA's reputation and ensure the people of Saskatchewan have the right information, at the right time and place in order to access health care services.

  • Public Relations diploma
  • Bachelor of Journalism and Communications
  • Bachelor of Public Relations
  • Bachelor of Commerce (BComm)
  • Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)
  • Marketing diploma
  • Business Administration diploma (DBA)
  • Bachelor of Arts in Communication (BACom)

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
