Job Description: Staff Safety Specialists are responsible for performing various key functions within the Safety, Quality & Strategy portfolio. Reporting to the Manager of Quality & Safety, the Staff Safety Specialist provides consultation, development & implementation of a variety of resource options for safety and injury prevention which are in alignment with the organization strategic plan, goals & values. This position ensures workplace incidents are fully investigated, that the data is analyzed, trends identified and corrective actions are appropriate and completed by managers and supervisors. In addition, this position provides ongoing consultation with SHA departments utilizing department safety plan frameworks guided by the SHA Management System in conjunction with the Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) Safety Management System.

Human Resources Exemption: No

Experience

  • Five (5) years experience in a related area

Education

  • Occupational Health and Safety and OH&S Certificate/Diploma preferred. A combination of applicable education/training & experience will be considered.

 Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Other Education and Training

  • Undergraduate degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Licensed, and in good standing, with regulatory body, if applicable
