Research and Data Analyst – Summer Student

Mission Statement: Homes First Society develops and provides affordable, stable housing and support services to break the cycle of homelessness for people with the fewest housing options.

Salary: $20 per hour plus 7% in lieu of benefits

The Research and Data Analyst summer student will support the Client Services department by coordinating data collection efforts, analyzing data for reports and funding proposals, and conducting program evaluations to improve effectiveness. They will collaborate with managers on database design and research tools and disseminate knowledge across different departments and staff to facilitate program analysis. Overall, the goal of the Research and Data Analyst will be to support evidence-based decision making and program effectiveness through data collection, analysis, and research related to housing and homelessness-related issues and policies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with coordinating and supporting staff to collect data and complete the submission of reports.
  • Support the collection and analysis of data and the completion of reports and funding proposals.
  • Assist with conducting evaluations to measure the effectiveness of programs and recommend improvements.
  • Utilize Evidence Based Practices (EBP) to support program design, grant writing, and policy development.
  • Work with managers and supervisors to support the implementation of EBP programming.
  • Assist in preparing qualitative and quantitative reports, publication papers, literature reviews, presentations, and briefs.
  • Support in conducting program Logic Models and evaluation frameworks.
  • Assist in disseminating knowledge to frontline staff, middle management, and senior leadership.
  • Support maintaining databases required for Homes First.
  • Research existing tools and resources, such as the Analytics Portal, to enhance data initiatives.
  • Assist with the writing of technical reports, guidance notes, briefing notes, and other publications as required. This may require collaborating with technical specialist consultants when necessary.
  • Assist with conducting research related to housing and homelessness issues to support policy development, analysis, and program development.
  • Support with conducting analysis of existing data and pull data for reports and use data visualization tools to evaluate programs and demonstrate impact.
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a Social Science or Statistics program at the university level
  • Solid understanding of Evidence-Based Practices (EBP)
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills to aggregate and validate data and develop insights
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Outstanding computer skills (MS Office applications) to build impactful presentations, reports, policies & procedures
  • Ability to be detail-oriented in a fast-paced setting

Working in an environment where there may be smoke is required.
