NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER
Casual Position - 12hr shifts
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the interprofessional collaborative team, the PSW is responsible for the delivery of quality care to residents and families, implementing plans of care to provide emotional, social, spiritual, and personal support that reflects the needs of each resident in a home- like hospice setting.
REPORTS TO: Director of Resident Care (DRC)
DATE REQUIRED: Position will remain posted until filled.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a PSW certificate with a recognized program
- Current BLS certification
- Completion of established palliative care courses such as Fundamentals and Applied Palliative Practice Skills. (APPS)
- Willing to train suitable applicants.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1-2 years of recent palliative care experience; experience in a hospice residence setting or a palliative unit/community assignment preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Two Step TB test and Vulnerable Sector Check
ABILITIES:
- Carry out plans of care that ensures the well-being, safety and comfort of the resident.
- Assist with duties related to the admission/discharge of a resident as directed by the nursing team.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Utilize observation, communication, and physical assessment skills to recognize, respond to and report changes in Resident need to the nursing team.
- Seek out opportunities to spend time with Residents and Caregivers to support their emotional, social and spiritual needs.
