ROTARY HOSPICE STRATFORD PERTH (HOSPICE CARE AVON MAITLAND)
NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (RPN)
Full time & temporary full-time positions, 12hr shifts on a rotating schedule
POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the interprofessional collaborative team, the nurse is responsible for individualized hospice and palliative care that focuses on comfort and quality of life, care planning, assessment & pain and symptom management, and psychosocial care for the resident and their family.
REPORTS TO: Director of Resident Care (DRC)
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS certification
- Completion of established palliative care courses such as Core and Advanced Fundamentals, LEAP, CAPCE, preferred, or willingness to enrol.
EXPERIENCE:
- One-two (1-2) years of recent palliative care experience with demonstrated expertise in pain and symptom management; experience in a hospice residence setting or a palliative unit/community assignment preferred. Willing to train suitable candidates.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Two Step TB test and Vulnerable Sector Check
ABILITIES:
- Good communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
- Passion for palliative/end-of-life care
- Good team player, able to build positive rapport with residents, families, and community partners
- An interest in ongoing professional development
