POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE, FLOW - Emergency Department
Primary Site: Stratford
Temporary Part-time
POSITION SUMMARY: The ED Flow Registered Nurse (RN) is a valued member of the interdisciplinary team within the Stratford ED department and organization. In this temporary assignment funded through our Pay For Results (P4R) ED funding, the flow nurse is responsible for:
-assessment and support of overall flow of patients in the ED with awareness for flow of patients across hospital
-the nurse will support design and support deliver of a dedicated fast track model in the ED, identifying ambulance offload delay opportunities and consideration for how to expedite patient admissions
-this role will support a goal of overall reduction in ED length of stay for patients with opportunity to provide quality improvement suggestions
- RN in a temporary ED FLOW nurse role MAY have some duties to support patient care however will be responsible for assessment, tracking and making recommendations for improvements to flow (outside of regular ED nurse assignments)
REPORTS TO: Manager, Inpatient Mental Health and Stratford Emergency Department
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $39.07 to $56.00 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or diploma from a recognized and accredited College/University
- Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Education related to geriatric care preferred
REQUIREMENTS:
- Recent clinical experience (minimum five years) in Emergency/Critical Care Nursing preferred
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Specialized Skills in the following areas are required:
- 12 lead ECG Interpretation
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Knowledge and experience in quality improvement
- Passion for improving patient and staff experience in the ED through flow
- Ability to work independently, with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to plan, organize and problem solve issues related to the care of an assigned group of patients
- Well developed verbal and written communication skills to deal with patients, caregivers and families
- Working knowledge of Meditech software personal communication application information system and related peripheral hardware preferred
Preferred Training:
- Paediatric and adult assessment, including triage and Acuity Scale
- Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS) or Paediatric Life Support (PALS)
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- Emergency Nursing Certificate (ENC)
- Emergency Trauma Life Support (ETLS)
- Trauma Management
