Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:
The Capital Accountant is responsible for assisting in providing leadership within the Capital Accounting Department, coordinating the financial/management reporting functions (internally and externally), and the recording and tracking of all capital asset acquisitions and disposals within Interior Health (IH).

In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to your manager or supervisor immediately.

What will you work on:
• Responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial management reporting functions for all capital transactions within IH in accordance with organizational policy, GAAP, MIS Guidelines, and governmental requirements.

• Ensures all financial transactions have been reflected appropriately and completely in the financial statements.

• In the absence of the Manager, Capital Accounting coordinates activities of staff engaged in these functions to ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness; this includes the setting of processing priorities and deadlines, assigning workload within a portfolio, and authorizing required journal entries.

• Provides input and makes recommendations to the Manager, Capital Accounting on financial issues as they relate to the policies and procedures.

• Prepares, delegates, and reviews the preparation of internal period end reports and yearend working papers to the external auditors.

• Coordinates the compilation of financial reports for submission to the appropriate governing bodies (i.e. Appendix C, Quarterly Financial Public Reporting, Federal Statistical Reports, Capital Budget, and Cash Flow reports, etc.).

• Coordinates the compilation of internal reports (e.g., Annual Capital Budgets, Cash Flow, and Capital Expenditure).

• Develops and implements the automation of systems to increase efficiencies within IH.

• Works on special projects as assigned.

• Provides input to the hiring, discipline, and termination of staff.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience
• An applicable Bachelor’s degree and/or a CPA.
• Five years of related experience working in a complex computerized environment.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally as well as in writing.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent knowledge of financial management and reporting.

• Sound understanding of current healthcare issues.
