Position Summary
We are seeking a Casual Clinical Student Placement Assistant at Kelowna Community Health and Services Centre in Kelowna, BC.

Days of work: Monday to Friday, Days

Shift times: 08:00 to 16:00

What will you work on?

This position supports and facilitates clinical student placement processes throughout Interior Health (IH). Working within a customer-focused, team-oriented framework the Clinical Student Placement Assistant will be responsible for continual improvement of student utilization and developing efficient, student-friendly, responsive student destinations. The Clinical Student Placement Assistant also provides technical support by arranging for system account set up, and access, assisting users with appropriate system use, responding to system issues, and creating reports as requested.

• Supports management and students in the development and maintenance of optimal student placement destinations to meet service needs, giving consideration for coverage requirements, available resources and schedule constraints.
• Establishes priorities and organizes operational procedures to ensure streamlining for the clinical student placement processes by receiving, conveying, and exchanging information/documentation on student placements and clinical education initiatives/programs from post-secondary institutions.
• Evaluates the training needs of IH team leads/educators/mgmt./destination coordinators and other staff, develops and delivers individual training sessions that explain the student placement process and stakeholder responsibilities, and demonstrates the use of HSPnet and other placement processes, such as preceptor assignment, document uploads, and completion of destination and preceptor profiles in system.
• Collaborates with academic partners regarding competing requests for limited clinical placements and coordinates placement meetings with academic partners (private and public) where they represent IH to discuss placement needs, philosophies and dispute resolution processes. Suggests alternative placements to applicable coordinators and academic institutions.
• Utilizes computerized applications such as HSPnet, Learning Hub, Meditech, external webpage, MS Teams, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Powerpoint, Visio, SharePoint), web-based applications, and other database systems to receive and process documentation relating to clinical student placement requests, clinical education initiatives and other PPO projects.
• Demonstrates the use of HSPnet to external partners (e.g. university student placement coordinators) ensuring alignment with IH student placement policies/guidelines and provides IH specific content to facilitate placement choice.
• Prepares statistical information as requested by gathering and compiling data, developing and formatting statistical charts and graphs using appropriate software.
• Using pre-approved content, prepares e-Learning modules/presentation using various computer applications.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications
• Grade 12,
