What will you work on?


The intent of this role is to support MHSU Connections team along with MHSU Transitions team in order to support client connections into MHSU programming and other community resources. Individual will work in collaboration with Clinicians and MHSU teams, contribute to individual care plans with the oversight and direction from MHSU Clinicians, and develop working rapport with community resources to meet client needs.

The Community Mental Health Worker 1 functions as part of an integrated multidisciplinary Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Team and performs a variety of life skills and general support duties involving clients who are living in their own housing. Reporting to the HCIS Manager or designate, and in accordance with established treatment plans, this position provides services within a psychosocial rehabilitation and harm reduction framework for the assigned client population(s) with severe mental illnesses and/or substance use disorders. Provides support to clients in the development and maintenance of the skills required to live successfully in their own homes. The Community Mental Health Worker 1 is expected to engage clients in various community settings as people with full potential and as meaningful collaborators in their own service planning, delivery and evaluation.

Scheduling Information:

Shifts types are days and shift of work are from 08:30 to 16:30hours. Days of work are Tuesday to Saturday.

Lansdowne Centre is one of Interior Health’s Mental Health Centres which provide many services including adult community support, adult short-term assessment and treatment, community residential programs, geriatric programs, crisis intervention, day and outpatient programs, addictions counselling, concurrent disorders services, group therapy, peer support, and after-hours mental health support.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

Grade 12

Certificate in a field relevant to the position (such as, Community Mental Health Certificate, Human Service Worker Certificate, Social Services Worker Certificate, etc.)

One year recent related experience working with the assigned client population(s) experiencing mental health and/or substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Food Safe certificate required

Current valid B.C. Driver’s License
