Position Summary
Interior Health is looking to hire a Data Governance Student to assist the Data Governance & Facilitation team. The work location is flexible within the Interior Health region.

The term of this position is from approximately June to December 2024.

What will you work on?

The Data Governance and Facilitation team ensures the proper management and utilization of data within the organization. The team supports data stewardship, data literacy, and facilitates data and reporting requests through a data management lifecycle approach.

The student will be part of the Data Governance & Facilitation team and participate in team functions. The student will work closely with the Data Governance & Facilitation team members and will be supporting Data Governance & Facilitation program. The student will have opportunity to engage in tasks relevant to their education such as: develop documentation, research data governance topics and processes, develop communication and engagement plan, collaborate with partners to support data quality.

Some Typical Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Assist in the development of data governance policies and standards.
2. Assist in data lifecycle procedures, including archiving and retention.
3. Maintain and update metadata repositories.
4. Maintain documentation of data processes and standards
5. Participates in team meetings and provide updates on data initiatives
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

• Enrolled in a post- secondary degree or advanced diploma (post-degree) with completed course work in a health-related discipline, health administration, business, or equivalent combination of education, qualification, and skills.
• Demonstrated experience in a complex computer & technical environment. Experience with Excel is required.

· Teamwork: Able to engage with peers to facilitate and participate in assigned projects and tasks.
· Communication: Concise and effective communication skills, both written and verbal. An ability to professionally engage with team members and stakeholders to execute assigned work.
· Initiative: Willingness to learn how theoretical knowledge applies in a practical work environment. Curious and open to learn.
· Accountability: Responsible for work product / outcomes within scope of duties and under supervision & direction of the assigned Manager.
· Technical: Demonstrated skills and competencies in relevant data management, statistical and/or data visualization software programs such as Excel, SAS, R, Power BI and/or equivalent.
· Physical: Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
