We are currently seeking casual Life Skills Workers to join our team at the Cara Centre in Kelowna, B.C.

What will you work on?
Life Skills Workers play an important role in care. They plan, observe, monitor and report on clients’ progress and level of acceptance to services and support.
They assist clients with activities associated with daily living and work to demonstrate and model appropriate behaviors related to problem solving and decision making. Life Skills Workers provide structured support to help develop and maintain life skills related to:
• time management;
• money management, budgeting skills, how to access funds and other forms of available assistance;
• organization and interpersonal communication;
• personal care (e.g.: hygiene, routine);
• household management (e.g.: laundry, cleaning);
• menu planning, grocery shopping, meal preparation
• community access (e.g.: public transportation)
Scheduling Information:
Shifts of work are days, evenings and nights; shift times are from 07:00 to 19:00, 19:00 to 07:00, 09:00 to 17:00, 10:00 to 18:00 hours. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. About this location/unit
Cara Centre is an 11-bed mental health facility operating in the community. This facility is for individuals who have a mental illness or psychiatric concerns and are interested in working on personal wellness, community integration, and achieving desired quality of life. Cara Centre provides private room accommodation, communal living areas and a supportive lifestyle where clients can participate in cooking, cleaning, shopping and social activities. Admission is open to male and females aged 19+ and is by referral only.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12
Certificate in a field relevant to the position (i.e.: community social services, rehabilitation) and one year recent related experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use problems; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
Valid certificates in CPR / First Aid / Food Safe required
Current valid B.C. Driver’s License
