Who are we looking for?

Interior Health is hiring a Manager, Virtual Care. The Manager, Digital Health-Virtual Care is responsible for leading the development and implementation of virtual care applications to improve patient access and outcomes. This role involves strategic planning, budget management, collaboration with key partners, including clinicians, patients, vendors, leadership, and external partners. The Manager will oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient delivery of virtual care services, while identifying opportunities for innovation and growth with a user centered design approach.

Salary range for the position is $106,026 to $152,413. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you make an impact?

The Manager, Virtual Care is responsible for leading and directing the Virtual Care team in Digital Health (DH). The team is responsible for identifying, planning, developing, implementing, and supporting applications and electronic processes to enable Virtual Care service delivery within clinical and educational areas; develops awareness of Virtual Care services across IH; works with partners to increase service adoption throughout the Health Authority.

In consultation with partners, the incumbent will develop long and short range plans, strategies, priorities and initiatives to support the achievement of the mission, goals and objectives of Interior Health (IH). As part of the Digital Health Management Team, the Manager provides management, direction, and leadership in the respective areas for utilization, quality improvement, system enhancement, project management, change management, and operation.

The Manager provides advice and recommendations to the Digital Health Leadership Team and other leadership groups in IH concerning the application of technology to meet virtual care related patient, clinical, and operational requirements. The manager models the DH culture of connectedness, transparency, purposeful innovation and continuous learning.

What will you work on?

• Develops strategic and tactical plans, goals, and objectives, as they relate to the Virtual Care portfolio, which support the mission and goals of IH. Ensures information systems and data services align with patient, organization, and program area goals and objectives.

• Directs and manages the activities of the Virtual Care portfolio and provides leadership and mentorship to team members. Responsible for recruitment, hiring, ongoing development, performance management, performance evaluation, growth and development, disciplinary action, and termination of staff as required. Verifies timecards and approves vacations and vacation coverage.

• Develops and manages operating and capital budgets for the support and implementation of virtual care solutions, and related applications.

• Interprets and administers collective agreements covering all bargaining unit employees, investigates and responds to routine and confidential employee issues and participates in grievance investigation and response, and attends third party hearings with a representative of the employer.

• Works with IH leadership teams to define operational and strategic information systems needs, develop project proposals, develop organizational priorities, and resolve complex and/or sensitive issues related to virtual care systems.

• Promotes and leads new virtual care related software systems and technology investigation, evaluation, selection, approval, acquisition, planning, education, support, and transition.

• Develops and fosters relationships with key internal and external partners (e.g. IH leadership groups, other Health Authorities, and Provincial partners) in respect to virtual care service delivery and issues related to the Virtual Care portfolio.

• Fosters relationships with patient partner organizations to ensure patient perspectives and feedback are continuously being collected and incorporated into decisions relating to virtual care service delivery.

• Works with software vendors, and other external service providers to negotiate contract terms and pricing and resolve complex and/or tentative service issues.

• Contribute to the financial objectives of IH by identifying cost saving measures, generating revenue and operating within approved budgets.

• Develops, implements, and monitors standards for service and performance; evaluates and effects changes as needed to improve services, optimize patient and clinical user experience, and simplify workflow.

• Participates in the Manager on-call rotation for Clinical Informatics.

• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.

• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualfications
Education, Training, and Experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Information Systems, or a related discipline. An equivalent combination of experience and post-secondary education may also be considered.
• A minimum of seven years of experience in healthcare information systems and managerial experience in a complex business environment including responsibility for strategic planning, development, project management, systems implementation and analysis, and staff development and supervision.
