Position Summary
Casual Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) opportunity available now at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital (CMH) in Williams Lake, B.C. Days of work are rotating and shift times include days and evenings.

Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with casual employment and lead to regular employment.

What will you work on:
As a member of the MLA team, you will perform a variety of duties in accessioning, outpatients and hospital collections. Typically this involves a lot of patient interaction through collecting blood and other specimens, preparing blood and specimens for analysis, sample processing and send out to outside Labs. Your responsibilities will also include using the Laboratory Information System (LIS), Holter monitor set-up & placement and ECG testing and some other clerical duties.

About this location:

Cariboo Memorial Hospital has 28 inpatient beds, 14 Emergency beds plus a trauma room, in addition to a 4-bed ICU and obstetrics unit. CMH is a very close-knit team of multi-disciplinary professionals and we pride ourselves on supporting one another in the Lab, and across the facility.

Qualfications
• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
• One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
