Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable and motivated Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) to join our cohesive Lab team within the friendly community of Salmon Arm, BC. This is a permanent full-time opportunity.

About the job:
The MLA performs a variety of duties within the site, such as taking blood samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens within the Core Lab and outside Laboratories, operating related equipment, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and performing related clerical duties. Performs ECG testing as required.

The Shuswap Lake General Hospital is a Level 2 Community Hospital in the Thompson Cariboo Shuswap health service area. Located in Salmon Arm, between Kamloops and Revelstoke, the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient, obstetrics, laboratory and 24 hour emergency.
Salmon Arm lies in the heart of BC, nestled between the beautiful mountains and hills of the Shuswap Region. Located right on the serene Shuswap Lake, Salmon Arm is midway between Calgary and Vancouver (around 5hrs by car in either direction) and Kelowna international airport is a 1.5hr drive away. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails and endless year-round outdoor recreational activities surround this pristine town, which draws in tourists from all over the world with its countless opportunities for adventure.
Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience
• Grade 12
• Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program
• One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• Valid BC Driver’s License
• Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
