Position Summary
Casual Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) position available now at the South Okanagan General Hospital located in Oliver B.C.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. What will you work on:

MLA’s perform a variety of duties such as taking blood and specimen samples from patients, preparing blood and other specimens for analysis, performing routine lab tests, distributing specimens to departments and outside Labs, operating related equipment, entering data into the LIS and performing related clerical duties and ECG testing as required.

SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds and 18 acute care beds which regularly operate at 100% capacity. This busy hospital is co-located with an 80 bed long-term care facility and also offers outpatient Lab services.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience

Grade 12

Successful completion of a recognized Laboratory Assistant training program

One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Valid BC Driver’s License

Ability to type 25 WPM *please upload a copy of an invigilated typing test dated within the last 48mths. Please note we do not accept self-administered online tests*
