Permanent part-time 0.71fte Medical Lab Technologist (MLT) now available in Salmon Arm, B.C! This position includes rotating day, evening and night shifts.

About the job:
MLTs work in a supportive, team-based environment and perform a variety of duties within the assigned discipline department. Your responsibilities will include:
• Performing routine and/or complex tests, utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments
• Entering data into the Lab Information System (LIS), related systems and programs
• Validating and reporting test results
• Maintaining instruments, preparing solutions and control agents
• Contributing to training, evaluation and improvement programs
Our caseload is quite varied and as this site is a smaller STAT Lab, it allows for a great learning environment. MLTs rotate through Chemistry, Hematology Coag, Transfusion Medicine and the manual bench, processing blood, urine, body fluids and CSFs on site.

Shuswap Lake Hospital is a 42-bed hospital in the Thompson-Cariboo-Shuswap health service area. Located in Salmon Arm, B.C the hospital offers services including surgical, inpatient, obstetrics and 24-hour emergency.
Salmon Arm lies in the heart of BC, nestled between the beautiful mountains and hills of the Shuswap Region. Located right on the serene Shuswap Lake, Salmon Arm is midway between Calgary and Vancouver (around 5hrs by car in either direction) and Kelowna international airport is a short 1.5hr drive away. Hundreds of miles of hiking trails and endless year-round outdoor recreational activities surround this pristine town, which draws in tourists from all over the world with its countless opportunities for adventure.
Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
