Position Summary
We are seeking a flexible and reliable medical Laboratory Technologist to join our welcoming and professional Lab team at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means hours are not guaranteed and may vary and shifts may be at short notice. Casual employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent and temporary positions. What will you work on:
The successful Laboratory Technologist applicant will perform a variety of duties within the Histology Lab such as routine and/or complex tests of tissue samples, utilizing manual procedures and automated instruments, receiving specimens, entering data into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), validating/reporting test results, maintaining instruments and preparing solutions and control agents.

About this location:
East Kootenay Regional Hospital (EKRH) is an acute care hospital with a medium size Laboratory offering inpatient and outpatient services. It is considered a regional referral site for selected testing and there are a large number of Med Lab Technologists and laboratory assistants employed in Histology, Microbiology and Core Lab.

Cranbrook is situated in the southeastern corner of British Columbia. Cranbrook is the business capital and largest city in the Rocky Mountain Region and is an easy drive to Alberta and the US. Nestled on a gentle plain with scenic mountain vistas in the distance, residents can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities and urban pursuits.

Qualfications
• Graduation from an approved Medical Laboratory Science Program
• Current certification with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and eligible for membership with the BC Society of Laboratory Sciences (BCSLS) and/or CSMLS
• One (1) year recent related experience
