Position Summary
We are currently in search of a relief part time (0.80 FTE) Mental Health and Substance Use Worker to join the MHSU Homelessness team at the Cariboo Community Health Centre in beautiful Williams Lake, B.C. This relief position is until the return of the incumbent.

What will you work on?
This position facilitates the inclusion and engagement of people with lived and living experience of substance use in the planning and delivery of substance use services within their local IH MHSU teams.
The Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.
The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.
Scheduling Information:
Shift types are days and shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. Days of work are Monday to Thursday.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.
Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid B.C. driver’s license (Class V).
