About the position:
The Network Operations Center is the key conduit for all things connectivity in Interior Health and delivers responsive service to our Digital Health peers and partners.

Working as a key role in our Network Infrastructure connectivity focused service pillar the Network Operations Center role provides the following
services:
• Network Monitoring, Continuous monitoring for service outages, performance issues, and similar events
• Incident Management, managing internally created incidents and triaging or resolving incidents
• Service request fulfilment, support Digital Health and partners in provisioning network access for devices and systems
• Performance management, analyzing network performance and providing recommendations or optimizations
• Reporting, generate reports on network performance and health in support of network monitoring and performance management activities.
• Software and hardware management of key systems
• Engage with vendors in support of data cabling and system support.
In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Network Systems Analyst performs a variety of duties to ensure the provision of effective
implementation, maintenance and support of complex network systems consisting of local area, wide area, telephone, and telecommunications networks, and
associated equipment such as routers, switches, hubs, and cabling throughout Interior Health.

Typical duties and responsibilities:
• Designs local area, wide area, telephone, and telecommunications networks. Configures, installs and modifies network devices, cabling, and peripheral equipment.
• Maintains network systems and software applications by analyzing and diagnosing network problems and implements solutions.
• Implements and maintains network systems software by analyzing current programs and recommending program adjustments or changes. Develops instructional
material for department staff regarding modifications or changes to network systems software.
• Develops specifications for local area, wide area, telephone, and telecommunications network systems by gathering information from user departments and
developing and documenting systems and procedures and preparing implementation plans.
• Coordinates network projects as required; meets with managers to review current methodologies; identifies resource requirements; project milestone and
deliverables; performs feasibility studies, cost/benefit analyses, project planning; maintains project documentation, evaluation criteria and authorizations.
• Develops policies, procedures and documentation relating to the configuration, operating and maintenance of local area, wide area, telephone, and
telecommunications networks.
• Acts as the first line support person for problem calls as required; trouble-shoots hardware and software problems; refers problems to other IT staff or vendors as
appropriate.
• Maintains a database of networks, network equipment and related equipment for Interior Health.
• Prepares work plans for implementation of hardware and software, and provides training or orientation to department staff and users.
• Liaises with vendors to ensure that cabling and local area, wide area, telephone, and telecommunications network issues are resolved in a timely and cost effective
manner.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized degree or diploma program in Computer Science plus three years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education,
training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to write programs in a variety of programming languages.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
