Position Summary
Interior Health is hiring a permanent full-time Project Coordinator, Capital Planning & Projects who is passionate about making a difference in healthcare.

Salary range for the position is $74,618 to $107,264. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.

How will you create an impact:
The Project Coordinator, Capital Planning & Projects is responsible to assist in the facilitation and coordination of the design, construction, and building commissioning stages for capital projects, and operational projects at assigned site(s) within the Interior Health Authority Region. The Project Coordinator provides the support and assistance required to ensure that projects at the assigned site(s) are delivered within scope, cost, time, and quality to the clients’ satisfaction and within a safe working environment.

The Project Coordinator will be the key representative on site for the assigned project(s), meeting with contractors, collaborating with user groups and partners, review construction documentation (RFI, SI and Changes) to provide accurate and concise direction, and to identify and mitigate risks.

The Project Coordinator follows standard project management practices, ensuring IH processes are followed, constraints (scope, time, cost, and quality) are controlled, projects issues and risks are managed, and changes are properly managed and authorized.

In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to your manager or supervisor immediately.

What will you work on:
• Utilizes standard project management methodology and a collaborative approach to develop project charters, schedules, timelines, and specific processes for accomplishing the required improvements.
• Acts as a liaison between consultants and internal clients during the planning stages to ensure compliance with client requirements, application of sound industry knowledge and consistency with Interior Health Authority policies and practices.
• Evaluates design specifications to ensure they are within allocated budgets and scope at various project milestones.
• Monitors consultant and contractor performance for adherence to contract conditions, budget, and schedules.
• Ensures accurate and timely reporting.
• Prepares the Request for Proposal or tender documents.
• Monitors all stages of construction to ensure cost effectiveness, adherence to contract terms of reference, and consistency with technical and functional program requirements.
• Reviews and approves all documentation related to the administration of the construction contract.
• Performs or arranges for site inspections.
• Ensures consultants and constructors meet their contractual obligations.
• Coordinates and/or participates in the development and implementation of building commissioning plan.
• Meets with users to review arrangements/requirements for moves.
• Meets with all support departments to schedule adequate time for pre-move tasks.
• Facilitates testing and equipment inspection processes.
• Ensures orientation and training to client users on new equipment (e.g., nurse call system is arranged).
• Verifies that space and components are functional.
• Works with a procurement and equipment team to ensure timely execution of contracts and receipt of required equipment.
• Liaises externally with others including representatives of other Health Authorities and supports and/or identifies opportunities to partner with other Health Authorities, regional entities, community agencies, and private partners in system redesign or care and service improvements.
• Leads and coordinates the planning of user groups to ensure the project progresses on schedule.
• Collaboratively executes and monitors all milestones, deliverables, approvals, and signoffs.
• Serves as the central contact/resource person related to the project and identifies and resolves arising issues through negotiation and conflict resolution with partners.
• Prepares regular project summaries, updates, and identifying key factors that account for deviation from stated goals for the project implementation committee, project sponsors or others as requested by the project implementation committee.
• Performs other related duties and/or projects as assigned.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience
• Post secondary diploma in architectural/engineering technology to interpret drawings and specifications, cost project technical requirements.
• Training in project management software, contract law, insurance requirements, and financial management.
• Three years of experience in project management.
• Equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.

• Ability to orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish results.
• Ability to inspire and guide individuals towards stated objectives.
• Knowledgeable in policies, practices, and trends affecting healthcare and the organization.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all internal and external partners including the ability to make formal reports and presentations.
• A BC driver’s license and access to a personal car may be required.
• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
