Position Summary
An exciting permanent full-time opportunity is now available for a Rural Adult Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) Worker. This position works as part of the Primary Care Network serving the N. Secwepemc communities in Williams Lake, B.C.

This role primarily involves working with Indigenous communities, often in isolated settings. The successful candidate must be comfortable with frequent travel and capable of working autonomously.

What will you work on?


The Rural Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.

The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Scheduling Information:


Shifts of work are Monday to Friday; shift times are 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.

Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
