Position Summary
We are currently in search of a casual Rural Adult Mental Health and Substance Use (MHSU) Worker to join the MHSU Adult Short-Term Assessment and Treatment (ASTAT) team at the Kiro Wellness Centre in beautiful Trail, B.C.

What will you work on?
the Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders.
The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.
Scheduling Information:
Shift types are days and shift times are from 08:00 to 16:30 hours. This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.
Two years’ recent related experience in an alcohol and drug treatment environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
