An exciting casual opportunity is now available for a Rural Adult Mental Health & Substance Use Worker in Williams Lake, B.C.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an experienced and independent mental health professional with critical thinking skills to join our Youth Outreach team.

We are looking for a candidate who is skilled in providing comprehensive mental health and substance use services as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate should have experience in assessing and treating serious mental disorders and substance use issues among youths, including those experiencing acute crises such as psychosis, depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation.

What will you work on?

Our Youth Intensive Case Management teams offer low barrier outreach services to meet you where you are at, without judgment. We will work with you to meet your immediate needs and connect you with supports and services to improve your health and meet your wellness goals.

The Worker functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, whose purpose is to ensure that adults with serious mental disorders and/or substance use have access to responsive, sensitive and relevant assessment and treatment services. The program serves the adult and elderly population that experiences mental health disorders or substance use and impairment in personal, family, financial, occupational and/or social life. This includes individuals with acute psychosis, bizarre behavior, depression, anxiety, complicated grief, suicidal ideation, substance use, substance dependence and concurrent disorders. The primary duties include intake assessment, crisis intervention, referral, case management, psychogeriatric support, collaborative community planning, psycho-education with clients and their families, and liaison with appropriate professionals. Duties include urgent response intervention to individuals in acute crisis, consultation with other care providers to identify educational needs for the community and subsequent strategies to address these needs, and to coordinate services for adults and elderly with mental health and/or substance use problems.

Scheduling Information:

Shifts of work are Monday to Friday; shift times are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements can vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week. Many careers with us begin with casual employment and lead to permanent or temporary career opportunities.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in a Health, Behavioural or Social Science related field, from an accredited university.

Two (2) years recent related experience in a community mental health and/or substance use setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current valid BC driver’s license.
