Position Summary
Interior Health is looking for an experienced Senior Strategic Business Coordinator to join our team on a full time term basis until Dec 31 2025.
This position offers some flexible working remotely but the majority of the work is in office in Vernon.

Salary Range:
Salary range for the position is $88,990 to $127,923. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant, and an internal equity review of the salaries of other employees.
About the job:
In accordance with the established vision and values of the organization, the Senior Strategic Business Coordinator, in collaboration with the Director, is responsible for the monitoring the policies and procedures associated with the authorization and accuracy of payments to client service contractors.
The primary focus of the Senior Strategic Business Coordinator is to provide input and make recommendations to the Director, Contracted Services on issues related to payments to contractors, banking processes, and policy and process issues. The Coordinator will liaise with Interior Health (IH) managers, partners, and other outside bodies including Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Ministry of Health (MOH) representatives.
Typical duties and responsibilities:
• Coordinates the day-to-day activities of the Contracted Services Operations team by determining priorities, coordinating, and scheduling work based on department priorities; develops processes and methods for contract payments and ensures that initiatives are carried out in accordance with the goals, policies, and vision of Interior Health
• Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of the contract payments including processing, auditing, and reconciling accounts ensuring payments made are executed according IH signing authority.
• Responsible for the processes to maximize collection of any overpayments made to client service contracts.
• Has influence and manages processes for ensuring the contract management process meets internal and external audit requirements/recommendations.
• Directs the preparation of approved contracts to the Contract Advisors, including making recommendations on and/or addressing issues during the preparation of such contracts and providing required training.
• Develops and implements financial and statistical controls to ensure tracking of contracts and contractual payments.
• Responsible for compiling, analyzing, and interpreting contract financial reports for distribution within IH and the Ministry.
• Develops and implements appropriate review mechanisms to account for and monitor the contracts within the portfolio.
• Provides leadership and direct supervision to the Senior Strategic Business Advisor and Contract Advisors including evaluation and monitoring of staff development needs, hiring, and firing.
• Liaises with IH departments, Ministry of Health, and legal advisors to facilitate the development and completion of appropriate contracts.
• Advises Director and team on the strategic implications of contractual decisions on contract payments processes.
• Prepares regular and ad hoc summaries and analyses for the Director and for other IH managers using contract information.
• Coordinates the administration and application of annual cost pressure funding lifts to the client service contract portfolios.
• Supports the Director on projects as requested.
• In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, maintain a healthy and safe work environment through complying with and implementing applicable Occupational Health and Safety Regulation, responding to requests from WSBC, identifying hazards and communicating risks, ensuring compliance with employee training, conducting effective incident investigations and implementing required corrective actions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or related discipline or Diploma in Business, preferably accounting/finance.
• Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience working in a complex environment, including experience related to contract management and working with contract management databases.
• Knowledge of Excel, Access, and/or SQL would be an asset.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills and Abilities
• Ability to plan, direct, resolve problems, and implement processes.
• Ability to supervise staff.
• Ability to work under the pressure of deadlines and prioritize effectively.
• Ability to deal with a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated computer skills, including Excel and other Microsoft Office products, in a complex, computerized environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, plan, direct, manage, and implement.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including the ability to make presentations to groups.
• Must be detail-oriented with accuracy.
• Ability to work with sensitive, confidential, and personal information while maintaining a high-level of confidentiality.
