Position Summary
East Kootenay Regional Hospital has a relief, full-time opportunity for a Bachelor’s level Social Worker supporting the hospital’s core medical and surgical patients and their families. This position works Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00.

About the position: Join the Social Work cohesive team of four working together providing social work services to in-patients attached to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital. You will provide comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families. Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct psychosocial care, counseling, system navigation and advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized complex care resources while facilitating client self-management. Experience working with adults within the acute care/hospital setting is preferred.
This position will provide coverage until return of incumbent January 2026. Once hired into a relief role, employees are eligible to apply for internal postings including permanent positions. There are many opportunities with Interior Health that begin with relief positions and lead to regular employment.

Qualfications
• Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
• Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.
• Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
• Current valid driver’s license.
