Position Summary
Immediate opening at the South Okanagan General Hospital in sunny Oliver B.C. This is a permanent full-time acute care registered Social Worker position. The position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic, interdisciplinary team supporting acute medical and emergency departments, as well as being part of the closely connected community health care teams in the South Okanagan. This position works Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00.

About the position:
The Social Worker provides comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families. Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, the Social Worker provides direct psychosocial care, counseling and group work, system navigation and advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized complex care resources while facilitating client self management. The Social Worker is responsible for providing and developing social work services to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of the identified population.
About this location
SOGH is an active, rural hospital serving the communities of Oliver, Osoyoos, and surrounding areas that sees an average of 16,000 emergency visits per year. There are 7 Emergency beds and 18 acute care beds which regularly operate at 100% capacity. This busy hospital is co-located with an 80 bed long-term care facility and also offers outpatient services.
Just a short drive from Penticton, Osoyoos and the US border, the town of Oliver is located in a picturesque valley of orchards, vineyards, lakes and waterways; in the heart of south central British Columbia known as “The Capital of Wine Country”. With its mild climate, relaxed lifestyle and scenic surroundings, Oliver is a wonderful location to call home.
Qualfications
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.
Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
Current valid BC driver’s license.
