KPMG Canada is seeking an experienced Data Protection Manager to join our Cybersecurity Practice in Downtown Montreal. As a Manager within our Cybersecurity team, you will lead initiatives focusing on safeguarding our clients’ data assets by implementing robust data protection strategies, enhancing compliance frameworks, and overseeing data security solutions. This role is integral to helping our clients mitigate risks, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain resilient data protection postures.
What you will do
Your key reponsibilities will include
- Data Protection Strategy and Governance:
- Design, develop, and implement data protection strategies that align with clients’ cybersecurity objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Advise on and drive data governance policies, data lifecycle management, and protection frameworks across various domains, including cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments.
- Risk Assessment and Compliance:
- Lead risk assessments, audits, and gap analyses to evaluate data protection controls and provide actionable recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with global and industry-specific regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and align strategies with best practices such as NIST, ISO 27001, and other cybersecurity standards.
- Technology Solutions and Implementation:
- Oversee the implementation of Data Loss Prevention (DLP), encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and data masking solutions.
- Partner with technical teams to assess, configure, and integrate data protection technologies, ensuring they meet client security and compliance requirements.
- Stakeholder Management and Client Advisory:
- Serve as a trusted advisor for clients, presenting data protection and cybersecurity insights, updates, and solutions in a clear and actionable manner.
- Manage and nurture client relationships, ensuring consistent engagement and alignment with business and security objectives.
- Production of service offers, project management, billing, and forecasting.
- Team Leadership and Mentorship:
- Lead a team of cybersecurity professionals, providing mentorship, training, and support to enhance their skills and domain expertise.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Legal, and Compliance, to promote a culture of data security awareness.
What you bring to the role
- Experience: 6-8 years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on data protection and privacy, including leadership or project management roles.
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Security, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Certifications (preferred): CISSP, CISM, CIPP, CIPM, or other relevant cybersecurity or data protection certifications.
- Technical Proficiency: In-depth knowledge of data protection technologies (e.g., DLP, encryption, IAM) and cloud security solutions (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Regulatory Knowledge: Proven experience in advising or implementing compliance solutions aligned with GDPR, CCPA, and other data privacy regulations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong risk assessment, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering measurable business outcomes.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in French, with the ability to present complex security concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
