Working with the Tax Team, the successful candidate will provide client and compliance-related tax services. You will be responsible for a variety of technical, market facing, practice development, financials, and support functions, including working with the partner in charge and senior management to provide compliance and advisory related tax services to our many clients.
What you will do
- Build relationships with our global network and work on business development opportunities and proposals.
- Opportunities to lead various aspects of the business such as business development, industry events, practice development and standardization.
- Work closely with a Partner or Executive Director to lead client engagements, and advise/assist clients on planning opportunities, tax strategies, and compliance issues
- Oversee the corporate relationship, the lifecycle of individual Canadian and/or US tax compliance, cross-border payroll and tax equalizations.
- Run tax briefings with executives and lead tax and payroll consulting.
- Actively mentor and coach team members to their highest potential and create a learning environment through leadership; managing a team that provides superior consultative tax advice to help our clients achieve tax savings.
What you bring to the role
As a Senior Manager:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience specializing in personal Canadian and US tax and/or expertise in cross-border Canada-US payroll matters.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills allowing effective interaction with team and clients.
- Excellent client service skills, with the ability to understand the clients' businesses.
- Excellent computer skills – Excel experience is required. Advanced excel skills such as VB, Alteryx, considered an asset.
- Strong sense of financial management
- Organizational and time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Ability and interest in developing new markets and in working in a growing business environment.
- Professionalism in the execution of tasks, including risk management.
- High level of drive, enthusiasm and a positive attitude when coping with pressure at work.
- Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, effectively managing teams.
The following skills and behaviors would be beneficial but not necessary:
- Canadian Professional designation (CPA)
- US Professional designation (US CPA or EA)
- Language skills – French
- Data and Analytics and/or AI experience
