Title : Early Childhood Educator - Supply

Position Type : Daily Occasional

Posting Overview:

The Early Childhood Educator, under the direction of the Principal, will partner with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program within a classroom setting and provide supervision and age-appropriate programming. The Early Childhood Educator will collaborate in the design of programs and environments which will enhance children's cognitive, physical, social and emotional development.

The Lambton Kent District School Board, serves more than 21,000 students in 50 Elementary and 12 Secondary schools across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent. Prospective qualified Early Childhood Educators, who are able to work on a daily occasional basis are invited to submit their applications.

• must be available to work a minimum of 3-5 days/week;

• must be available to work 10 months during the school year;

• must be willing to travel throughout Chatham-Kent and/or Sarnia-Lambton;

• must be available to work on a daily occasional basis;

• must be available to work on a last-minute, call-in basis.

Qualifications/Experience:

• Two-year Early Childhood Education diploma or degree;

• Proof of membership with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (Please list your membership number in your application);

• Minimum six months recent childcare experience is preferred;

• Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated aptitude and competence in working with young individuals in an educational or day-care setting.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge:

• Implement instructional programs for full-day Early Learning - Kindergarten Program and other Instructional Programs;

• Supervise and implement daily routines;

• Participate in the development and implementation of the student's academic and social goals in collaboration with the classroom teacher;

• Observe, monitor and assess each child's development;

• Support a team approach to home and school communications, forming positive relationships with children, parents and teachers;

• Work as a team to ensure ordered arrangement, appearance, and decor of the learning environment;

• Provide supervision of JK and/or SK students in and around the school;

• Maintain a healthy social, emotional learning environment;

• Possess the ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous, confidential manner with children, parents, staff;

• Work in a flexible, professional and independent manner;

• Demonstrate confidentiality according to F.O.I.;

• Attend regular staff meetings and other professional development opportunities as required;

• Observe health, fire and safety regulations;

• Have the ability to stand/walk for extended periods and move/carry equipment for programs;

• Can physically assist children as required (i.e. lifting);

• Possess basic computer skills;

• All other duties as assigned by the Principal and Ministry established guidelines.
