Posting Overview:
Reporting to the Supervisor of Human Resources, the Human Resources Clerk will work collaboratively within a team to support a large client group including teaching, non-teaching, management, and occasional/casual employee groups. The successful candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for an assigned employee group and be responsible for responding to inquiries and processing requests while complying with the respective collective agreement(s).
Qualifications/Experience:
• Minimum three-year community college diploma related to Human Resources;
• At least three years of proven previous related work experience required;
• CHRP designation preferred;
• Related education/experience may be considered.
Other Key Skills & Knowledge:
• Manage employee files, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and data confidentiality;
• Maintain accurate employee data by processing information within payroll deadlines in the HRIS system;
• Respond to staff absence inquiries and adjudicate leaves of absence as per the respective collective agreement;
• Work with Human Resources Officer to monitor staff absence to support the Attendance Support Program, while compiling, analyzing, and producing reports as per the respective collective agreement;
• Manage all stages of employee life cycle, from onboarding to separation;
• Administer any applicable pension and benefits for assigned employee group and communicate information where required to external providers (e.g. OTIP, Cowan, OMERS, TPP)
• Provide administrative support to the Manager and Supervisor of Human Resources such as researching, collecting and analyzing information, drafting letters, reporting and tracking requirements, Board reports, etc.;
• Support and assist when required with all other aspects of Human Resources department functions (e.g. recruitment, WSIB claims management, LKARS, training, professional development, Safe Schools, etc.);
• Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills in order to interact positively with all LKDSB employees, including Principals, Managers, Supervisors on a variety of Human Resources issues;
• Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy, ability to manage multiple priorities and meet timelines and maintain confidentiality;
• Strong ability in using Microsoft Office, including Microsoft 365 and Outlook;
• Experience with HR databases and HRIS systems, such as IPPS or K212;
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with limited supervision and as a member of a team;
• Knowledge of relevant collective agreements, legislations, HR best practices and Board policies and procedures;
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, anti-racism, anti-oppression and working in a diverse school community and/or work environment;
• Knowledge of Education Act, Ontario College of Teachers certification requirements and/or the education sector preferred.
Position Effective Date & Length:
Temporary, Non Union, 12 month, 35 hours/week
Rate of pay: $64,237/annum - $71,374/annum

*Administrative Procedure: Working from Home (A-OP-448-23): This procedure allows for a combination of working in the office and at home on a weekly basis if approved by the department manager.
