We are actively seeking a Dispatcher, under the supervision of the Supervisor - Dispatch, to dispatch port tugs in response to requests for ship escorts on the St. Lawrence River, berthing maneuvers and departures in harbours. He is also responsible for entering and completing all information and documentation relating to requests in the computer system.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:

  • Receive escort requests from vessels.
  • Coordinate the assignment of a captain or pilot boat to vessels requesting one, depending on other escort operations in progress.
  • Respond to calls from captains to help them resolve any problems that arise, and inform the Port Director.
  • Regularly update the dispatch board to ensure proper coordination of requests.
  • Monitor marine activities on the St. Lawrence River.
  • Keep abreast of the movements of Ocean Group captains, as well as information on escorts in progress.
  • Perform various support tasks for other departments, such as ordering equipment.
  • Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.

 

OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:

  • Degree in transport logistics or other relevant training for the position
  • Experience in the maritime field
  • Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years experience in transportation logistics
  • Available to work rotating shifts, days, evenings, nights or weekends according to schedule
  • Languages: advanced level in French and intermediate level in English, oral and written
