If so, we want you on our team!As the Director, Buying, you will lead all purchasing activities across Ledcor, ensuring goods and services are sourced effectively, efficiently, and in alignment with our strategic goals. You’ll play a critical role in supporting the transition to our new Shared Procurement model, helping shape a streamlined, value-driven approach to purchasing.
You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to operational teams and major projects, designing and implementing an end-to-end procurement function that delivers the right goods and services, to the right place, at the right time, and for the right price. You’ll also oversee procurement financials, ensuring smart allocation of budgets and delivering strong ROI, particularly in relation to procurement technology initiatives.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute procurement strategies that align with organizational goals, ensuring the timely supply of goods and services at competitive prices
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers and vendors to drive high-quality service, value, and reliability across all procurement activities
- Lead negotiations for contracts and purchases, from small-scale buys to large, complex agreements, securing favorable terms, pricing, and delivery timelines
- Leverage market intelligence and industry trends to drive data-informed decisions, identify new supplier opportunities, and continuously optimize procurement processes
- Manage day-to-day procurement operations, including the efficient conversion of purchase requisitions (PRs) to purchase orders (POs) across multiple business units
- Ensure compliance and manage risk by adhering to procurement policies, relevant regulations, and evaluating supplier performance and supply chain vulnerabilities
- Enhance procurement efficiency and reporting through continuous improvement initiatives and the development of insightful analytics for leadership and category teams
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations leaders and internal stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver cost-effective, timely procurement solutions
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of buyers, setting clear KPIs, conducting performance reviews, and creating opportunities for growth and development
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement, including purchasing and inventory control, with at least 8 years in a leadership or management role
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Procurement, or a related field
- Professional procurement certifications (e.g., Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) an asset
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team of buyers or procurement professionals, driving performance and collaboration
- Extensive expertise in vendor negotiations, strategic sourcing, and supplier relationship management
- Proficient in procurement technologies and ERP systems, including tools such as Coupa and JD Edwards (JDE)
- Solid Understanding of procurement best practices, with the ability to apply them across various industries and project types
- In depth knowledge of supply chain, purchasing, and contract management principles, including procurement policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
