You are a safety-conscious Asphalt Plant Foreperson with at least 3 years’ experience. You will be working with our Highway Construction crew throughout Alberta on various paving projects. You are a team player who ensures the well-being of others and lends a hand where needed. Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage the asphalt plant safely and effectively, ensuring adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Oversee and ensure the completion of regular equipment maintenance
  • Monitor plant operations to maintain consistent production, complete daily checks, and maintain accurate plant logs
  • Lead and comply with Ledcor’s Health & Safety programs, setting a strong example for the team
  • Supervise daily operations to ensure the safety of the crew, the facility, the environment, and the public
  • Manage resources, including equipment, labor, and contract truckers, to support efficient highway construction activities
  • Plan and prioritize work schedules to meet project milestones and contractual deadlines.
  • Collaborate with the quality control supervisor to ensure all quality objectives and contract specifications are met
  • Conduct regular equipment inspections and ensure adherence to preventative maintenance schedules
  • Lead daily safety toolbox meetings with the crew, addressing health, safety, and environmental concerns promptly and effectively

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience managing an asphalt plant, including overseeing operations and production
  • Successful completion of drug and alcohol testing is mandatory
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to provide a clean driver’s abstract
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team
  • Demonstrated ability to incorporate health and safety practices into all work activities
  • Capacity to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative
  • Mechanical aptitude is considered a strong asset

Work Conditions:

  • This is a field-based position from May to November 2025, with the opportunity to transition into plant maintenance work during the off-season
  • Flexibility is required, as projects will take place across Alberta
  • Shift rotations involve 10-14-hour workdays, including nights and overtime as needed
  • A living-out allowance of $135.00 per day is provided
  • Preference is given to candidates with an RV or trailer, as a camp area with hookups is provided
