Essential Responsibilities
Assist in supervising 5+ crews and support the superintendent with daily scheduling and field operations.
Trains, supports and offers guidance to new hires
Ensure efficient workflow and crew management in the field
Leads by example in promoting health, safety, and environmental (HS&E) best practices on the project
Ensures compliance with the Project Specific Safety Program (PSSP), Ledcor HS&E standards, and all applicable OH&S/OSHA regulations for employees and subcontractors
Ensures project schedules are met while maintaining company standards in regard to quality protocols
Manages escalations and provides exceptional customer service to clients related to quality, work performed, standards, etc.
Ensures that all tailboards, timesheets, driver’s logbooks, and billing are handed in on time
Ensures compliance with municipality hours of work, traffic protection, environmental standards, traffic bylaws, and restoration standards
Oversees all client specific requirements based on contract requirements
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in the telecommunications industry as a Foreperson or Lead Hand Labourer
Strong problem-solving skills specific to the telecom industry
Ability to coordinate and troubleshoot day-to-day job site challenges
Proven ability to oversee multiple project locations simultaneously
Strong understanding of current construction practices and field concepts (including Outside Plant (OSP) construction)
Knowledge and hands-on experience with Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), Vermeer drills, and Falcon locating systems
Competence in using line locators effectively
Strong leadership skills, with experience directing and supervising the work of others, including subcontractors
Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures as they apply to common construction processes
Ability to operate industry specific equipment such as vibratory plows, small excavators, skid steers, backhoes and road cut saws
Ability to lead and direct the work of others, including the supervision of subcontractors
Effective organizational and planning skills; proven experience organizing workloads, managing multiple priorities, and working with multiple deadlines
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, such as Excel and Outlook
Familiarity with protocols and practices specific to large telecommunications providers
Must possess and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
Working Conditions
Travel to various sites across Ontario is required
Working outdoors in various weather conditions
Able to meet the physical requirements of the position which involves sitting, standing, bending, lifting (up to 75 pounds), in confined spaces and in all types of weather conditions (rain, snow, heat etc.)
Applicants that reside in the Belleville area will be given preference due to the location of this project
