HS&E Manager, Infrastructure

You are an experienced, versatile HS&E Leader responsible for leading & facilitating the work activities of HS&E teams. You are skilled at leveraging relationships with operational teams to drive continual HS&E improvement. You are an open-minded, self-aware individual who strives to understand yourself and others. You are a problem solver, a strong communicator and continuously look for innovative solutions that can be utilized to support projects.

This position supports our Infrastructure division and is based in Surrey, BC.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the Implementation of the health & safety programs on the project, ensuring safety procedures are followed by the operations team and subcontractors
  • Collaborate with the health & safety program manager on ways to improve the health & safety program
  • Participate in the senior management, stakeholders, and client executive meetings when available
  • Manage the health and safety resources assigned to the project
  • Lead investigations for all major incidents and across the project with the support from the Health & Safety Program Manager
  • Coordinate with section managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure corrective measures are taken promptly
  • Ensure competencies and on-the-spot task specific safety training are being completed for workers on site
  • Liaison with any regulatory body that engage in worksite visits
  • Work with project managers and supervision to address site-specific challenges and improve safety practices
  • Ensure task specific hazard assessments are being completed, communicated, and followed, including but not limited to, confined space hazard assessments, location specific fall protection plans, ground disturbance permits

Qualifications:

  • 5+ year's relevant Health, Safety and Environment experience in a mentor/ leadership position
  • 10+ years’ experience in infrastructure, construction or related industry, with relevant health and safety experience
  • Possession or pursuit of CRSP, CHSO or other professional HS&E designation
  • Thorough knowledge of common commercial construction practices, techniques and equipment including experience at the worksite level
  • Knowledgeable of local government health & safety acts, policies, regulations, codes and practices as they apply to the commercial and light industrial construction industries
  • Able to influence work planning and execution by field / operations people as relates to achieving HS&E objectives
  • Dedicated to meeting the requirements of internal and external customers - acts with customers in mind
  • Excellent verbal, communication, project management and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality with sensitive employees and business information
  • Ability to work independently and be part of a cross-functional team environment
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Must have and maintain a valid provincial driver’s license and clear driving record
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug & alcohol requirements

Working Conditions:

  • Ability to work extended work hours as the need arises

Compensation

$91,200 to $125,400 annually

This is the expected base pay range for this role. Individual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors including experience, knowledge, skills, education and location.
